Hans-Lothar Schaefer, a physicist, was born in 1959 in Mengerskirchen. He is chairman of the management board and has overall responsibility for the company’s core business in Germany and for contracting abroad. He started his career in 1985 in Techem’s software development department. After holding a number of leading positions in the areas of technology, organisation, services and IT, he was appointed of the management board of what was then Techem AG in 2005. He also took over responsibility for international business in addition to the technology section in 2006 and he has been responsible for the core business in Germany and for technology since the end of 2008. Techem is the market leader in the energy services sector in Germany, i.e.in the metering and billing of water and heat. Hans-Lothar Schaefer was appointed Managing Director when the company name changed from Techem AG to Techem GmbH in March 2009. He was appointed chairman of the management board in May 2009.
Steffen Baetjer
Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Techem GmbH
Steffen Baetjer was born in Niebüll in northern Germany in 1969 and grew up on the island of Foehr. Mr. Baetjer studied economics in Kassel and London receiving degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Kassel. He is a managing director of Techem GmbH and is responsible for the finance and administration departments. Steffen Baetjer comes from the European business bank WestLB where he performed international managerial tasks in the finance sector for almost four years. He initially controlled business management for the back office of the European shareholdings and was last responsible for the finance department of WestLB in Luxembourg. Other positions: four years as finance director on the Board of Universal Music in Berlin and another five years as a business consultant for McKinsey in Berlin and in Palo Alto, California. Steffen Baetjer has been the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Techem GmbH since 1 November 2009.
Dr. Rolf Weber
Managing Director of Business Services at Techem Energy Services GmbH
Dr. Rolf Weber was born in Homberg/Efze in 1956. He obtained a degree in business management in 1981("Diplom-Kaufmann") and in May 1986 he received his doctorate in economics. Rolf Weber started his professional career in 1983 in the system development in what is now Techem GmbH. He held various posts in the organisation as project manager and in logistics and from 1993 he was head consecutively of the materials management, logistics & infrastructure and IT departments as well as of the project steering committee. Dr. Weber became responsible for the IT processes & projects department in 2008. Dr. Rolf Weber was appointed the Managing Director of Business Services at Techem Energy Services GmbH in October 2009.
Peter Metz
General manager of Techem Energy Contracting GmbH
Peter Metz was born in 1954 in Niederlauch. He is General Manager of Techem Energy Contracting GmbH. After completing degrees in business economics (university of applied sciences) and industrial engineering (university of applied sciences), he began his career in 1980 in the sales department at DIETZ Computer Systeme. He moved to the sales department of WANG Deutschland GmbH in 1982. After holding several positions in sales he became a member of the board and Regional Director of Marketing for the Central European Area. From 1993 until the beginning of 1999 , he was marketing manager at Deutsche Leasing AG. He then moved to COLT Telecom GmbH, where he held the position of Sales Manager Germany. He became Managing Director of Wholesale in Europe at COLT Telecom Group plc, London, in 2002. He moved to the foreign division at Techem in July 2005 and he was appointed General Manager of Techem Energy Contracting GmbH in January 2006.
